Abersychan have been using the XLence online system since 2016. They make use of all 5 modules and are based in Torfaen.

How did you identify the need for a product like XLence? What were you using, if anything, before?

As a school we wanted to consolidate all aspects of self evaluation, quality assurance and staff development. We felt that XLence enables us to do this. The XLence website means that documents relating to CPD, Performance Management, Lesson Observations and SER/SDPs are contained in the same place and that makes it a lot easier to ensure that they are appropriately interconnected.

How did you find the transition process when moving from your old system or process to XLence? How was it received by your staff?

Staff were introduced to the XLence website gradually, a module at a time and we have found that this has been a worthwhile approach.

What impact has XLence had on your school improvement processes?

XLence has meant that self-evaluation has strengthened, and the process of line management meetings are far more productive, especially when looking at aspects of improving teaching and learning.

How do you make use of the data analysis the system provides?

This is an aspect of XLence that we have only started to use. It is clear that it will be invaluable in relation to looking at the value for money in relation to mow much we spend on CPD and the outcomes that the CPD provides.

What is your opinion of the support provided by the XLence team?

The team have always been extremely professional and helpful. They are very prompt in their responses and no question is ever too small for them.
