Leading and Managing the Challenges for Schools
Reviewing Practice Against the Professional Standards
An Important Workshop for Leaders and Teachers
This is the challenge. Developing your school as a functional learning organisation and ensuring successful implementation of the new curriculum will require high quality teaching supported by excellent leadership.
This workshop will explore realistic ways in which schools can use the Professional Standards for Leadership and Teaching to review and evaluate practices, identify strengths and secure developments.
The workshop will be practical, with delegates making use of the XLence Standards Review Frameworks (provided free with the workshop), developed with schools to see how leaders and teachers can review their practice against the relevant Professional Standards. There will also be opportunity to purchase the newly produced Framework for Teaching Assistants.
Using the Standards to Review Practice – Morning Workshop (9.30 – 12.15)
This workshop will cover:
- reviewing practice against the standards for teaching and leadership in Wales;
- identifying strengths and areas for development;
- using outcomes to identify and meet professional learning needs at individual, group and whole school level;
- using a range of evidence in the review process;
- how to effectively record and analyse outcomes.
Delegates will receive free copies of the XLence Review Frameworks for Teaching and Leadership as part of the workshop cost (normally £125) and will make use of the XLence online 360 Review tool during the session (seen below).
How might this fit with what you already use?
In order to review and evaluate effectively, schools will already use a variety of evidence secured through their regular, ongoing monitoring processes using a variety of frameworks. This is a formative process.
The XLence Standards Review Framework does not replace or replicate these practices but complements and supports them, offering opportunity for regular overall review in a summative manner and providing a simple, easy to read representation of practice against each element within the Standards.
