The Frameworks


XLence Standards Review Framework
The XLence Standards Review Framework is designed to help teachers, peers and leaders appraise and evaluate teaching and leadership practices against all elements of the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership in Wales.
It is directly aligned to the five standards for teaching and leadership practice against which teachers’ and leaders’ development is measured throughout their career.


XLence Standards Monitoring Framework
In order to support further exemplification and evidence gathering from a wide variety of sources our XLence Standards Monitoring Framework (formerly known as the ETLF) can be used to evaluate a series of monitoring activities that take place in all schools.
The framework is particularly useful in providing guidance and proformas for identifying evaluative evidence from classroom observation, learning walks and work and planning scrutiny.

Observations and reviews completed using the frameworks can be stored and analysed using our online system, XLence. Comprised of five optional modules, the system stores full logs of everything you record as a result of monitoring teaching and learning and conducting self and peer reviews, as well as staff appraisal objectives, CPD events and your SDP and SER.
